Reader's Theatre for Healing

The Reader’s Theater Workshop (Harbour Stars Programme) is available as a standalone school visit programme. Our founder and facilitator will visit your school to launch the programme, introduce students to The Harbour Library collections and guide them through their first Reader's Theatre experience.

School visits are designed for students aged 10 to 19 and can be adapted for primary, secondary and international school contexts. To book a school visit or find out more please contact us at contact@theharbourlibrary.com

Every story deserves a voice. Yours is waiting to be heard.

The Harbour Stars Programme

You can have fun while you heal.

The Harbour Stars Programme is The Harbour Library's Reader's Theatre initiative. Every month we invite students of all ages to choose a passage from any book in our library and bring it to life through performance. The best submissions are celebrated as our monthly Harbour Stars.

This is not a formal competition. There are no grades. There are no wrong answers. There is only you, a story that speaks to you and the courage to give it your voice.

Three Ways to Perform

Melodic Reflection

Transform a passage from a book into a song, poem or spoken word piece set to music. Your melodic reflection can be gentle or powerful, quiet or bold. Let the emotion of the story guide the sound.

Monologue

Choose a character from any book in the library and speak in their voice. A monologue can be a character's inner thoughts, a letter they never sent, or a speech they never got to give. Make us feel what they feel.

Group Skit

Gather a group of friends, classmates or family members and bring a scene from a book to life together. Group skits can be performed live, recorded or presented as a short film. The more creative the better.

How to Submit

  1. Choose any book from The Harbour Library at www.theharbourlibrary.com

  2. Select your performance format: Melodic Reflection, Monologue or Group Skit

  3. Record your performance on any device. A phone camera is perfectly fine.

  4. Email your submission to contact@theharbourlibrary.com with the subject line Harbour Stars Submission

  5. Include your first name, age group and the title of the book you chose

  6. Submissions are accepted on a rolling monthly basis

Our Monthly Harbour Stars

Every month we celebrate our favourite submissions as Harbour Stars. Selected performers will be featured on The Harbour Library website and social media channels with their permission. Every Harbour Star receives a personal certificate of recognition from our founder.

We do not judge on technical skill or production quality. We celebrate authenticity, emotional honesty and creative courage. The performance that moves us most is the one that comes from the truest place.
